The city is developed along the line that links earth and water. It overlooks the Gulf of the Angels in a natural environment dominated by the water of the sea and of the lagoons populated by several birds species. Behind this city, the huge Campidano plain spreads towards the north of the island. Cagliari is a city full of art. It offers a wide range of styles and accounts of the past, inherited from the different eras' colonizers: the Phoenicians, the Carthaginians, the Aragonians, the Piedmonteses, the Pisans, the Genoeses. In addition to the renowned cultural aspect, the city is a veritable treasure case of natural beauties, nestled between the urban and the suburban areas: the botanical garden, one of the most beautiful in Italy, Molentargius and Santa Gilla ponds, with the numerous flamingos that create unique sunrises and sunsets. And also the green parks of San Michele, Monte Claro, Monte Urpinu, Tuvixeddu, the Sella del Diavolo and the city beaches: all these attractions make the urban journey pleasantly varied.
